How Does the ProFractional™ Laser Work?
The ProFractional™ laser is a fractional ablative skin resurfacing treatment, meaning it removes the top layers of skin to promote the body’s natural healing process. It creates thousands of targeted microchannels in the skin, stimulating collagen production.
Collagen is a protein that improves the health and elasticity of the skin. This allows it to heal and tighten while remaining healthy. The natural aging process causes the body to produce less collagen over the years, resulting in fine lines, wrinkles, and laxity, impacting your skin’s health and appearance. By improving collagen production, we can reduce the appearance of fine lines, sun damage, and scars causing the skin to appear more youthful.
Furthermore, removing the top layer of skin causes the body to produce new skin cells and promote healing. This is beneficial in treating scars, including acne scars, age spots, and signs of photoaging.
What To Expect During Your Treatment
While the treatment is not necessarily painful, it can be uncomfortable. That’s why we utilize a topical anesthetic to soothe the skin and keep you relaxed throughout your treatment.
During the treatment, we will move the laser along the targeted area until it has been completely treated. The entire procedure only lasts about 20 to 30 minutes.
Are There Any Side Effects?
Following the treatment, you may experience a slight stinging sensation like a sunburn. The skin may also look and feel dry or irritated. These side effects are completely normal and should subside in a few days. The site will take about a week to heal and for you to see the full results. Our team will provide further aftercare instructions during your consultation and on the day of your treatment.
