Expert Facial and Neck Liposuction Bellevue – Seattle

Facial and Neck Liposuction
In Bellevue and Seattle

You’ve made a decision…it’s time to do something dramatic about your appearance.

You’ve been working out hard, eating all the right foods, and you’ve lost some weight. You look in the mirror in frustration. Time and gravity have caused your neck to droop, creating a double chin and sagging jowls. Face or neck liposuction may be the answer!

As a pioneer with over 16 years of experience in laser-assisted liposuction techniques in Seattle, Bellevue and the Eastside, Dr. Stern and the Stern Center are excited to offer the latest advance in laser-assisted liposuction using Sciton’s Allura laser.

Allura is a minimally invasive, ultra high-powered laser system for performing laser-assisted lipolysis. The laser melts unwanted fat, allowing Dr. Stern to finely sculpt your chin and neck profiles and permanently remove a greater amount of fat than would normally be removed during a traditional liposuction procedure.  The laser stimulates the collagen, resulting in significantly greater skin contraction and tightening than traditional liposuction.  During your post-op visits, we also use the external SkinTyte®  Laser in order to achieve maximal skin tightening and the best contour possible.

The procedure is performed under completely local anesthesia, with incisions so small no sutures are required. Downtime is minimal, and most individuals resume normal work and daily activities in several days.

Who is an ideal candidate for face and neck liposuction?

The ideal candidate for neck liposuction is someone who has excess fat or fullness of the jowls, beneath the chin or in the neck with good elasticity of the skin. Using the laser and micro-instruments, Dr. Stern can liquify and suction out the excess fat through a few tiny incisions while simultaneously tightening the skin of the jowls or neck. The procedure is performed under completely local anesthesia without the need for sutures. Recovery takes just a few days.

How Is Neck and Face Liposuction Performed?

dr stern Face and neck liposuction is performed under local tumescent anesthesia. This part of the procedure only takes a few minutes and will numb the treatment area and prevent pain and discomfort during the liposuction procedure. Additionally, we offer ProNox curing the procedure (Nitrous/oxygen mixture) to minimize any discomfort or for those patients who need further relaxation.  After the local anesthetic takes effect, the fat removal process with the Allura laser can begin.

Tiny incisions will be made to allow the laser energy to dislodge and liquefy the fat for removal. The gentle heat generated during this step has the added benefit of providing skin tightening and contraction. Dr. Stern will then use a microcannula to suction out the unwanted excess fat.

Allura laser liposuction allows for precise sculpting of the jowls, jawline and neck. It is perfect for intricate and delicate areas. Best of all, it is an outpatient procedure and you can return home the same day.

Why Should I Get Face and Neck Liposuction Instead of a Neck or Facelift?

There are several different types of surgery to enhance the appearance of your face and neck. The right one for you depends on your cosmetic concerns and what results you want to achieve. Factors such as the amount of skin laxity you have and the amount of time that you can spare for the recovery also play a large role.

In general, liposuction is a better option if you want to address excess fat. That fat may be beneath your chin or around your lower face in an area that is commonly called the jowls. With Allura laser liposuction and the addition of SkinTyte laser, you can also target some mild skin laxity.

Facelift and neck lift surgeries are more ideal for patients who want to address additional signs of aging. These may include sagging skin along with deep lines, wrinkles, and folds. It is worth noting these procedures are more invasive and require more downtime than liposuction.

What Areas of the Face and Neck Can Be Treated With Liposuction?

Liposuction is ideal for treating the area beneath the chin. Excess fat that accumulates there is often called a double chin or submental fullness, is often inherited and can be difficult to eliminate with diet and exercise alone. Unlike injections and non-surgical treatments, liposuction offers instant results.

In addition to treating fat below the chin, liposuction can also help slim down the jowl area. The jowls are located on the lower face and can obscure the contour and definition of your jawline. Sometimes, liposuction is used on other areas of the face as well. The cheeks are one example.

How Long Do Results Last With Neck and Face Liposuction?

One of the best things about neck and face liposuction is that the results can be very long-lasting. When liposuction is used to remove fat cells, those fat cells cannot return. For liposuction patients, this means they can generally expect to enjoy their results for many years.

Keep in mind that weight gain can hurt your cosmetic outcome. The remaining fat cells in the treated area may expand and undo the slimming effect that you gained through liposuction. Similarly, liposuction does not stop the natural aging process. Your face and neck will gradually change over time. However, non-surgical maintenance treatments can help maintain your look.

How Should I Prepare for Neck and Face Liposuction?

Neck and face liposuction is a minimally invasive procedure that requires little preparation. Our practice will provide detailed instructions that will set you up for a safe and successful surgery.

In general, you may be asked to:

  • Stop smoking
  • Discontinue blood-thinning medications
  • Arrange for transportation to and from surgery
  • Get a medical evaluation or lab testing

What Is Recovery Like After Face and Neck Liposuction?

Enhancing your appearance does not have to mean clearing your schedule for weeks. Most face and neck liposuction patients return to work and resume normal activities in several days.

You will likely experience some temporary soreness, mild swelling and bruising in your face or neck after liposuction. It can usually be managed with over-the-counter pain medications and good aftercare practices. While you may see an immediate improvement in the contour of your face and neck, keep in mind that your results will get even better over the next few weeks as the swelling subsides.
